Samsung has revealed details of camera updates in the new Galaxy S25 line of smartphones, including the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Here's What We Know

Despite the absence of significant hardware changes, the company has focused on software enhancements that should improve image quality and expand user capabilities.

Among the innovations are 8K video recording with an ultra-wide camera, six new filters, and smoother video scaling. It also adds support for 10-bit HDR and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG), which should provide more saturated colours in photos and videos.

One of the key new features is the "virtual aperture", which allows you to change the background blur in a photo, simulating the effect of a professional camera. This feature is now available in the Expert RAW app, where users can save RAW images with this effect. In addition, special software ND filters have been added to help take high-quality photos in bright light, such as in sunny weather.

Samsung has updated the Gallery app, adding the ability to search for photos by their description. In addition, an AI-based "enhancement" function automatically improves the clarity and exposure of photos.

The RAW image editor has also been updated, allowing you to adjust exposure, contrast, saturation, colour temperature, and reduce noise in DNG files directly on your smartphone.

Samsung notes that the improvements also apply to the "Magic Eraser" function, which has received improved algorithms for removing objects and correcting images.
