Here's What We Know

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has announced that the Swedish government will allocate funds as part of a new large military aid package, which is expected to be approved in the near future.

Deputy Minister of Defence Serhiy Boyev met with Brigadier General Johan Axelsson, Director of the Technical Systems Testing and Evaluation Department of the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV). During the meeting, Axelsson noted that the Swedish government is ready to approve the largest package of assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

In addition to arms supplies, the package will include investments in Ukrainian defence production, including long-range weapons such as attack drones and Neptune cruise missiles. The financing will be organised according to the Danish model, which involves the purchase of weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers in accordance with the needs of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

The parties agreed to develop a bilateral agreement to implement joint projects in the defence industry and discussed a list of priority products for production.

In October 2024, Sweden already allocated €20 million to support the Ukrainian defence industry as part of a €63 million aid package.
