Xiaomi has announced a formal recall of 30,931 units of its SU7 electric sedan in China due to problems with the car parking system. Why formal? Car owners will not need to visit service centres as the new software will be delivered via an OTA (Over-the-Air) update.

Here's What We Know

In November 2024, an SU7 Standard owner reported an incident during car parking that resulted in damage to the car. Investigation revealed that some SU7 sedans had glitches in the cloud service's time synchronisation, affecting the operation of the car parking system. Xiaomi implemented measures to fix the issue and after two months of testing, confirmed the reliability of the solution.

The recall affects models manufactured between 6 February and 26 November 2024, with internal numbers BJ7000MBEVR2, XMA7000MBEVR2 and XMA7000MBEVR5.
