X plans to launch a TikTok-like video feed in different countries

Elon Musk's company, X, has begun a global rollout of its vertical video feed following a successful launch in the US. The feature is already available in India, Australia, and several European countries.
Here's What We Know
An X spokesperson confirmed to TechCrunch that the rollout is ongoing.
A new tab for videos has appeared in the X app next to the Grok button. It is important to note that it is currently available only on iOS, and Android users will have to wait a bit - the company has not yet disclosed the exact timeline.
The launch of the new feature comes amidst uncertainty about TikTok in the US. The Trump administration has extended the deadline for the platform to find an American partner or exit the market completely. US President Donald Trump signed a decree ordering the Department of Justice not to temporarily impose fines on US companies that cooperate with TikTok.

In addition to entertainment, the vertical video feed opens up new monetisation opportunities for X - ads appear after watching several short videos. This is a proven strategy used successfully by Instagram and TikTok.
X is actively developing video content: last year, the company released a separate TV app to watch videos from content creators and brands. In 2022, users were able to watch short videos by simply clicking on a video in the feed and swiping up.
The European Commission recently concluded an investigation into social network X (formerly Twitter) and, according to German newspaper Handelsblatt, is preparing to impose a fine of millions of euros.
