Apple has introduced watchOS 11.3, the third major update to the Apple Watch operating system.

Here's What We Know

watchOS 11.3 is available for Apple Watch Series 6 and later, as well as Apple Watch Ultra and Apple Watch SE 2.

The update can be downloaded to an iPhone running iOS 18.3 via the Apple Watch app in the General, Software Update section.

To install the new software version, the Apple Watch battery must be at least 50% charged and the device must be connected to a charger.

The main new feature in watchOS 11.3 is the new Black Unity watch face for Apple Watch. To celebrate African Diaspora History Month in February, Apple has introduced a new Black Unity collection. The new version of the Unity Rhythm watch face features unique numbers created by intertwined threads of red, green, and yellow. When the user raises their hand to look at the time, the abstract paint strokes smoothly transform into clear numbers.

The iPhone and iPad wallpapers feature the word "Unity" in a similarly customised style. The Black Unity collection is an important step in Apple's commitment to diversity and inclusion in design, and provides an opportunity for users to support and celebrate the cultural heritage of the African diaspora around the world.

Apple has limited updates for some older Apple Watch models following the release of watchOS 11.3. For Apple Watch models that cannot upgrade to watchOS 11, such as the Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5, there is an unexpected bug that prevents the latest version of watchOS 10, watchOS 10.6.1, from installing.
