Hyundai Construction Equipment will unveil at Bauma 2025 a pre-production version of a 15-tonne HW155H hydrogen fuel cell-powered wheeled excavator. This machine has already been shown at Bauma 2022, but then it was a static model, while at this year's event the excavator will operate on a demonstration platform.

Here's What We Know

Wheeled excavators remain popular due to their mobility and versatility, especially in urban environments. The hydrogen fuel cell-powered machine is quieter than existing diesel counterparts and also creates no harmful emissions during operation.

The HW155H is equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell system that provides 70 to 100 kW of power for the electric drive motors and electrically driven hydraulic pumps. The hydrogen fuel reserve on board provides up to eight hours of continuous operation and refuelling takes about 20 minutes.

At the upcoming exhibition, the HW155H will be paired with a new low-pressure 'hydrogen distribution vehicle' to demonstrate how the vehicle can run on zero-emission fuel.

Bauma 2025 will be held in Munich, Germany, from 7 to 13 April.
