Gamers aren't interested: Marvel Rivals success hasn't affected UK comic book sales

Despite the huge success of the Marvel Rivals video game, which attracted more than 10 million players in the first 72 hours, sales of physical comics in the UK have not seen any significant growth.
Here's What We Know
The owners of the leading British comic shops Forbidden Planet and Ace Comics reported that they have not yet seen a significant surge in interest in Marvel's printed comics. Moreover, according to Martin Averre, the owner of Ace Comics, "gamers don't usually move on to buying comics".
Experts put forward several reasons for this situation:
- Players receive content for free and they do not want to pay for other goods
- Most prefer online reading
- Subscription services like Marvel Unlimited make physical copies unnecessary
Interestingly, DC's comic book sales are currently even higher than Marvel's. Perhaps the situation will change in the near future, but so far, video games have not become a driver of comic book sales.
