WhatsApp has released version 25.2.3 update for iOS, which fixes a serious privacy issue related to the "View Once" feature.

Here's What We Know

The bug allowed users to view photos and videos that should have disappeared after one view.

The vulnerability, which only affected iPhone users, allowed access to the content that was supposed to disappear through settings: View Settings, Storage & Data, Manage Storage, and Sort Media by Newest. This completely bypassed the privacy protection that the "View Once" feature was supposed to provide.

The issue was spotted by a security researcher, which led WhatsApp to acknowledge the bug and release a fix. This is not the first time that the One Look feature has faced security issues, as a similar vulnerability was patched in WhatsApp Web last year.

In addition, the update also brings new features, including making calls without saving phone numbers and improvements for group calls.

Given the importance of protecting personal information, iOS users are advised to update the app via the App Store to ensure that the "View Once" media files remain temporary as intended.

Recently, it became known that WhatsApp is testing a feature for iOS that will allow users to switch between multiple accounts on one gadget. This will allow users with two phone numbers to store all their conversations in one app, instead of using two separate apps for different accounts.
