Sony has announced that it will gradually start removing PlayStation 4 games from its PlayStation Plus service, similar to what it did with PlayStation 3. Starting from January 2026, PlayStation 4 games will only "occasionally" appear in the monthly game selection and game catalogue.
Here's What We Know
This change is due to an increase in the number of players upgrading to PlayStation 5, with Sony noting that many users are primarily buying back and accessing PlayStation 5 games. However, games that are compatible with both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will still be available. In addition, all PlayStation 4 games that subscribers have previously purchased will remain in their libraries for future access.
For those who subscribe to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, the impact on the game catalogue is slightly different. PlayStation 4 titles will remain available until the monthly update, at which point some titles may be removed depending on new releases. Although PlayStation 4 exclusive titles will appear less frequently, Sony has not ruled out their inclusion in the catalogue.
