Ukrainian attack drones have begun using full-fledged 250kg bombs, and another piece of evidence of this has been released by Ukrainian sources.

Here's What We Know

In particular, it is reported that one of the regiments of unmanned aerial systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine used such ammunition to strike targets in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation.

The published photo shows a FAB-250M-54 high-explosive aerial bomb along with a 120mm mortar shell. The type of UAV that carried out the strike is not disclosed, but Ukraine has long used drones with such bombs.

Back in April 2024, Russian sources published a photo of a SkyRanger Swift light aircraft converted into a strike UAV with a similar bomb and holder. At the time, it was assumed that the aircraft had gone down due to a malfunction or Russian electronic warfare.

It is noted that such drones are reusable - after dropping a bomb, they return to the base to prepare for new missions. It is known that one of these UAVs had hit four targets. An optical sighting station is responsible for the accuracy of the bombing.

Previously, such drones used FAB-100 (they weighed 100 kg), but now there is information about the use of a much more powerful FAB-250 (total weight - 250 kg). This may indicate the use of a more robust carrier or the expansion of the SkyRanger Swift's capabilities.
