+658% in 2024: BYD has become the fastest growing car brand in the UK

BYD, China's largest electric car manufacturer, is rapidly gaining ground in the UK market. Over 2024, the brand's sales grew by 658 per cent to 8,700 units, making BYD the fastest growing brand in the UK.
Here's What We Know
Brand recognition has grown from 1% to 31%, helped largely by sponsorship of Euro 2024. The dealer network has expanded too, from 14 outlets in January to 60 in December, with more openings planned for 2025.
BYD entered the UK in 2023 with the Atto 3 crossover, which is still the brand's most popular model. Next came the Dolphin hatchback, the Seal electric sedan, the Sealion 7 electric crossover, and the Seal U PHEV plug-in hybrid. In February 2025, the Atto 2 SUV will also hit the market.
In addition, BYD is preparing a series of electric commercial vehicles and trucks. In particular, at the IAA Transportation 2024 exhibition in Hanover, the brand showed an LCV called E-Vali, designed for last-mile delivery and courier services.
The Chinese carmaker is also mulling plans to launch its luxury sub-brands Yangwang and Denza in the UK.
