Sony has sent a copyright infringement notice (DMCA) to the developer of a fan patch that allowed Bloodborne to run at 60 fps. This patch was created by modder Lance McDonald and released in 2021.

Here's What We Know

Bloodborne, released in 2015 for PlayStation 4, ran at 30 fps. In 2021, Lance McDonald developed a patch that increased the frame rate to 60 fps, improving the smoothness of the gameplay. However, on 31 January 2025, McDonald reported that he received a request from Sony to remove the link to this patch, which he agreed to.

Some fans believe that the removal of the fan patch may indicate the preparation of an official release with 60 FPS support, but the company has not yet made any official statements on this matter.

Still, it's a strange story that the patch has been freely available for 4 years, and now they suddenly decided to remove it.
