Cult 90's TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" may return with a sequel
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, which became iconic in the 1990s, could be returning to screens. A new report says Hulu is close to ordering a pilot episode starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Here's What We Know
The pilot episode will be directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao, who is a fan of the series, and the script is written by Nora and Lila Zuckerman. Sarah Michelle Gellar will return to the lead role, Buffy Summers.
It remains to be seen if the other original cast members will return, but there is hope that a revival of the series will become a reality. Joss Whedon, the creator of the original series, will not be involved in the project due to abuse allegations against him in 2021.
A "Buffy" reboot was discussed back in 2018, but the plan then was to change the main character to a black woman. The new version will likely be a continuation of the original story with a returning cast.
