A new version of the Pixel Watch Management Service system application has revealed references to the Adaptive Charging feature that may soon be available on Pixel smartwatches.

Here's What We Know

This feature, which has been available for Pixel smartphones for a long time, optimises the charging process to extend battery life.

Adaptive Charging on Pixel phones works by learning your charging habits and charging your battery to 100% just an hour before you would normally unplug your device from the charger. This helps reduce battery wear and tear, especially for those who leave their phones on charge overnight.

Currently, new lines of code have been found in the Pixel Watch Management Service app (version 2024.10.14.685782837), which indicate the possibility of adaptive charging for smartwatches. A new permission option has also been added to enable this feature on supported models. However, it is still unclear how exactly this feature will work on watches, but we can expect that the principle will be similar to charging for smartphones.

Google has not yet announced the exact launch date for the Pixel Watch, but it could be an important complementary feature for those who want to extend the battery life of their smartwatches.

Recently, it became known that Google Pixel Watch 3 will be able to detect cardiac arrest and call for emergency assistance. The update brings two important lifesaving features for users in Germany and Portugal, including the cardiac arrest detection feature available to all Pixel Watch 3 owners.
