Dolls, rabbits and a magic book: the developers of South of Midnight presented an unusual trailer of the game
Microsoft and Compulsion Games studio (the author of conceptual dystopia We Happy Few) released an unusual trailer of adventure action game South of Midnight, which will be set in an alternative rural area of the southern United States, where local folklore is combined with magic and fantasy monsters.
Here's What We Know
The video is notable for the fact that in order to demonstrate the main feature of the game the authors, together with the studio Clyde Henry Productions (Oscar nominee for the animated film Madame Tutli-Putli), used real dolls and with their help realised frame-by-frame animation. Let's remind, in South of Midnight the stop motion artistic technique known as frame-by-frame animation is used, but in the game it can be switched off.
In the clip the main character Hazel gets to the Rabbits' house and finds a fairy-tale book with the title South of Midnight on the doorstep. It looks like this is the event that will start the game's story.
South of Midnight is a dynamic action game with unusual locations and memorable enemies. The main character has several supernatural abilities that allow her to feel echoes of the past and use magic. She will go on a journey, where she will face fights with bizarre monsters, as well as meetings with interesting characters.
The developers have tried to enrich South of Midnight with an exciting plot and a dynamic combat system, and thanks to this every boss fight will be a worthy challenge, but without excessive high complexity.

South of Midnight will be released on April 8 on PC and Xbox Series, as well as in the Game Pass catalogue.
