In addition to Capcom announces Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Remaster, releasing this year, Capcom has revealed important details about the brand new game Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which was announced for December 2024 and will be the first new game in the series in twenty years.

Here's What We Know

Developers reported that in the centre of the story will be a brand new character, who will also receive at his disposal the Oni Glove - a mystical artifact that gives its owner the power to kill Genma monsters from the underworld and absorb their souls.

The events of the game will unfold in the Edo era (1603-1868) in the city of Kyoto, which is filled with a huge number of historical sites hiding mysterious and disturbing stories.

The protagonist will have to fight monsters, although the game is not completely fantasy and there is a place for real historical characters.

The developers pay a lot of attention to the combat system and aim to make the fights in Onimusha: Way of the Sword exciting and deep

Game director Satoru Nihei said that the developers do not aim to make the game incredibly complex, their goal is to give gamers vivid emotions from the victory over enemies.

Earlier Capcom said that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will offer a new look at the franchise and bring it closer to modern standards.

When We Can Expect It

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is expected to release in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
