Russia presents T-90M with Arena-M active protection system

Russia's Uralvagonzavod has produced the first T-90M Proryv tank equipped with the Arena-M active defence system, which is capable of intercepting guided missiles and other threats.
Here's What We Know
A video of the new combat vehicle was posted on the corporation's website. The Arena-M system is designed to intercept missiles and other anti-tank munitions in the near field by physically destroying them. It consists of six radar stations that monitor the area around the tank. After detecting a threat, the system fires a counter-munition that hits the target with a narrowly focused stream of debris.
Due to the integration of the system's elements, the smoke grenade launchers were moved to an open installation on the turret roof. The radars cover the frontal, side, and aft projections, but the upper hemisphere remains vulnerable to Javelin and attack drones.

The false sides are to be equipped with launchers with counter-munitions, the number of which, according to patent documentation, can reach 14 units. For proper operation, the Arena requires an open space around the tank, which makes it impossible to install anti-drone superstructures.
Earlier, Valery Kashin, general designer of the Russian Design Bureau of Instrumentation, said that work was underway to adapt the Arena-M to intercept attack drones.
