Samsung has released the first update of this year for the Galaxy A52s, a popular mid-budget smartphone that was released back in 2021.

Here's What's New About It

The update is available for users in Europe and Asia and has firmware number A528BXXSAGYA2. The main change is the January 2025 security patch, which fixes dozens of vulnerabilities in the Android system and One UI. However, this update does not contain any new features or performance improvements.

How To Switch It On

To check if the update is available for your smartphone, go to Settings, Software updates, Download and install.

Can I update my smartphone manually?

Yes, users can download the firmware themselves and install it manually using Odin. However, this requires a Windows computer and basic skills in working with firmware.

Will Galaxy A52s get Android 15?

The Galaxy A52s debuted with Android 11 and received three major updates:

  • Android 12 - at the end of 2021
  • Android 13 - at the end of 2022
  • Android 14 - at the end of 2023

However, this is the end of the support for major OS updates - this model will not receive Android 15 and One UI 7.0.

Samsung has recently released the January security update for the Galaxy A23 5G, A32 5G, A35 5G, and A53 5G in the US. These four smartphones receive a number of security fixes as part of the latest update. The January security update for Galaxy devices fixes 29 vulnerabilities that affect the core Android operating system and 22 Samsung-related vulnerabilities (SVEs), which are security issues that affect only Samsung devices.
