Nintendo confirms plans to release Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends Z-A in 2025 for the original Switch
Given the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 and the lineup of games for it, the Japanese company will have a busy year. Meanwhile, the original Switch console still has two big exclusives waiting for it - Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends Z-A. During a meeting with investors, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed that both games will be released this year.
Here's What We Know
Furukawa also reiterated Nintendo's commitment to releasing new software for the current Switch console as soon as it is ready. However, he stressed the importance of exclusive games to launch new hardware. He stated that the company is exploring ways to make its games available to as many players as possible on both the Switch and Switch 2.
This means that some games may be released on both platforms. Pokémon Legends Z-A was announced for "Switch systems", which makes a Switch 2 release very likely. Although Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is officially confirmed for Switch only, a version for the next console would not be a surprise.
Even if the rumours of improved Switch 1 games on Switch 2 don't come true, Nintendo has already confirmed backwards compatibility, albeit with certain limitations.
