Nintendo patent confirms mouse support for Joy-Con controllers in Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo itself doesn't talk much about Switch 2, apparently waiting for the official presentation in April, but many insiders are gradually learning new details about the console. One of the features of the new handheld from the Japanese company will be that the new Joy-Con controllers can function as mice, as hinted at in the console's trailer. Although Nintendo hasn't officially confirmed this, a recently discovered patent seems to support this claim.

Here's What We Know
The patent, spotted by ResetEra users, describes a Joy-Con controller equipped with a "mouse sensor". The sensor detects reflected light from a surface, with motion affecting the light when the controller is moved. The diagrams in the patent illustrate how the Joy-Con is held sideways and used as a mouse. Some of the diagrams also show a separate model of the controller that can be separated into parts, similar to the Joy-Con.
The Nintendo Switch 2 presentation is scheduled for 2 April, where additional details about the console and its mouse functionality are expected to be revealed. Stay tuned for more details.
