A Mirage-2000 aircraft crashed near the city of Karela, India, during a routine training flight.

Here's What We Know

The plane took off from the Gwalior airbase and crashed in Shivpuri district. Police spokesperson Aman Singh Rathore said that both pilots managed to eject and suffered minor injuries.

According to preliminary data from the Indian Air Force, the crash was caused by a system failure during the flight. The military command has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.

This is not the first time these aircraft have crashed in India. In 2023, a Su-30 and a Mirage-2000 crashed simultaneously in the country. India purchased about 50 French fighter jets in the 1980s, but due to accidents and obsolescence, their number in service has been significantly reduced.

To clarify, the Mirage-2000 is a fourth-generation multi-role fighter developed by the French company Dassault in the 1970s.
