Take-Two Interactive reported that player spending in NBA 2K25 significantly exceeded its expectations, which helped it achieve its financial targets for the last quarter.

Here's What We Know

In the third quarter of 2025, NBA 2K25 showed "outstanding results", especially in terms of Recurrent Consumer Spending (RCS), which includes the purchase of virtual currency, in-game advertising, and other purchases. RCS in the game grew by over 30%, which the company attributes to "new features and innovations in our game modes".

Overall, this contributed to a 9% increase in the company's RCS, despite only a 6% increase in mobile game spend (which was below expectations) and a decline in GTA Online spend. Since the release of NBA 2K25, 7 million copies of the game have been sold.

Take-Two also noted that 2025 could be the company's "strongest year yet", with the expected releases of games such as Civilisation VII, Mafia: The Old Country, Grand Theft Auto 6, and Borderlands 4. The company is confident of achieving "record levels" of revenue in fiscal 2026 and 2027.
