A recent report by The New York Times noted a new trend: more and more people are wearing Apple Watch on their feet instead of their wrists. This is a curious trend, and the article discusses several reasons why users choose to wear their smartwatch in this unconventional way.

Here's What We Know

One of the main reasons is the size of the wrist. People with small wrists notice that the Apple Watch fits too loosely and cannot accurately detect their heart rate. Another reason is tattoos: on wrists with ink, the heart rate sensor may not work correctly because the ink can block the light needed for measurement.

Some users find that the Apple Watch on the ankle gives more accurate step counting results than the one on the wrist. There are also those who have skin conditions and prefer to wear the device on their ankle because of the discomfort of wearing it on their wrist. In particular, healthcare professionals who cannot wear watches on their wrists also find this arrangement more convenient.

Despite this, Apple has not commented on the new trend and does not recommend wearing Apple Watch on the ankle in its documentation. The company's documents state that the device has been tested for wrist wear, and there is no mention of the possibility of using it on the leg.

However, despite the lack of official recommendations, users continue to find their own ways to use the Apple Watch.
