Insider: Square Enix hasn't given up on a Final Fantasy IX remake and is actively developing it

For several years now, rumours have been circulating online that Square Enix is preparing a remake of Final Fantasy IX - a game that is considered one of the best in the series, on par with the legendary seventh part.
The first mention of this appeared in 2021, but so far the Japanese developer has not commented on the information, limiting itself to vague hints.
Here's What We Know
One X/Twitter user asked reputable insider Nate the Hate what he knew about the remake of Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy Tactics. The informant replied that both games are in active development, but he doesn't expect the remakes to be released in 2025.
Nate the Hate doesn't rule out that the updated games will be released in 2026, but he's not ready to confirm that yet.
Both remain in active development. FFIXR isn't expected to see release in 2025. Maybe we'll see it launch in 2026.

Final Fantasy IX was released in 2000 and was remembered by the public for its incredibly deep plot and unprecedented elaboration of the main characters' relationships.
