Porsche, it seems, is not going to stop producing 2,500 copies of the 911 Dakar, the last of which rolled off the assembly line last November. According to Autocar, the company is working on a new version of the off-road 911, and this time the model will get a hybrid powertrain.

Here's What We Know

According to sources, Porsche will equip the new Dakar with a T-Hybrid powertrain, which is already used in the 911 GTS of the 2025 model year. It includes a 3.6-litre turbocharged opposition six-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and an 8-speed PDK transmission. This system produces 541 hp and 610 N-m, which is significantly more than the first 911 Dakar (480 hp and 570 N-m).

Development of the new model is underway at the Weissach Technical Centre, and the premiere could take place as early as the end of 2025. Porsche has yet to officially comment, stating that it "does not comment on rumours".

However, back in 2022, the company's CEO hinted that the release of new off-road 911s was possible if there was demand for them. Obviously, the Dakar has enough fans, so Porsche has every reason to give it a second life, now in hybrid format.
