Northrop Grumman has signed two contracts worth $1.4 billion to improve the air and missile defence systems of the US and Polish armies.

Here's What We Know

The first contract for $481 million was signed by the US Army's Air Missile Technology Consortium. Within its framework, $347.6 million was allocated for the defence of Poland, and $133.7 million for the US Army and the defence system of Guam (unincorporated territory of the United States)

Northrop Grumman will expand the development of software for the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) and integrate Polish sensors and the British CAMM modular missile system into the defence network.

The second contract, worth $899.6 million, provides for the supply of the IBCS as the central control system for Poland's WISŁA medium-range and NAREW short-range air defence programmes. This should increase the interoperability of Polish defence with US forces.

In 2024, Northrop Grumman delivered the first complete set of IBCS components to the US Army to support early deployment. The system has already been tested with LTAMDS, PAC-3 and IFPC Inc 2.

The IBCS integrates various sensors and weapons into a single network, allowing commanders to make real-time decisions. The deployment of this system in Poland will significantly enhance its defence capability.
