Huawei may abandon the scanner in the display of the Pura 80

Huawei may change the way it unlocks smartphones in the Pura 80 series.
Here's What We Know
While the current Pura 70, 70 Pro, and 70 Ultra have fingerprint sensors integrated into 15K OLED displays, their successors may get a side scanner built into the power button.
According to Digital Chat Station, such a solution brings Huawei flagships closer to budget models such as Nova 13i or Moto G (2025), but the company plans to compensate for this with new features.
In particular, the power button may get additional features, including quick access to the voice assistant or camera control, similar to the "Camera Control Button" in the iPhone 15 Pro.
The innovation is expected to debut in the Pura 80 series in mid-2025. It may also appear in the upcoming Mate 70 or Mate X6 models.
According to an insider at Digital Chat Station, this smartphone could be a real breakthrough thanks to its own Xmage camera sensor developed by the company.
Although the Pura 70 Ultra cameras have shown positive results during testing, the next model will be even better thanks to a new 1-inch sensor. Importantly, this sensor will be manufactured directly by Huawei's Xmage division, not by a third-party supplier such as Sony, which should have a positive impact on the integration of the technology with the rest of the smartphone system.
It is known that Huawei will introduce the Tri-Fold smartphone Mate XT Ultimate on the international market on 18 February.
