It's not a secret that Bungie studio faced huge difficulties while developing the Marathon online shooter: the game concept was revised several times, employees were fired, Sony management was not satisfied with their investments in the American company and several project managers have already left the team.

At the last State of Play show the public was not presented new materials on Marathon, but it is likely that soon the developers will break the silence.

Here's What We Know

In the latest edition of Game Mess Decides podcast, authoritative insider Jeff Grubb explained that the fact that Marathon was not shown at State of Play does not indicate new problems in Bungie. The journalist reminded that the studio prefers to hold its own separate presentations and Grubb assumes that the next show of the studio will take place in April and will be dedicated not only to Marathon, but also to the further development of Destiny 2. By that time the current act of The Final Shape expansion will be finished and it will be time for the next innovations.

Earlier it was assumed that Marathon will be released in 2025, but there is no indication that Sony and Bungie will meet this deadline, especially if we take into account that the Japanese company is unlikely to want a repeat of the huge failure, as it was in the case with the largely similar to Marathon shooter Concord.
