However, if users have been waiting for new features, they will have to wait a little longer.
This release is mainly aimed at improving security and fixing bugs. The software version has been updated to "UTTK.241210.003" (from the previous "UTT3.240625.001"), and the Android security level has been raised to January 2025 (from August 2024). The patch weighs 329 MB, which is significantly larger than last year's 36 MB update.
One of the key changes is a fix for Dolby Atmos support, which improves the overall sound quality for users.
The update also clarifies the situation with audio codec support. Google has confirmed that Google TV Streamer does not support Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, DTS-HD MA, or DTS:X audio formats, although these formats were previously listed in the advanced audio settings. These options have now been removed from the updated software.
For those who plan to purchase this device, Google TV Streamer is available for $99.99 on popular retailers such as BestBuy and Amazon.
Recently, the official date of the annual Google I/O event was announced. The company announced that the regular conference for developers will be held on 20-21 May 2025 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, which is located near Google headquarters.
