Broadcom and TSMC are exploring the possibility of acquiring parts of Intel, leading to a company split

Broadcom and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) are exploring possible deals to acquire parts of Intel, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Here's What We Know
Broadcom is considering buying Intel's chip design and marketing business and is looking for a partner for the company's manufacturing business. TSMC, on the other hand, is considering controlling Intel's chip factories, possibly as part of a consortium of investors. Discussions are preliminary at this point and nothing has been submitted to Intel.
Taiwanese chip maker TSMC is exploring a deal with the support of President Donald Trump's administration, although the White House has said the administration is unlikely to back an agreement that would allow a foreign entity to control Intel's factories.
Intel, which has been struggling, has been a target for acquisitions of rival chipmakers. The Wall Street Journal reported in September that Qualcomm had approached Intel with a takeover offer, but no formal offer has yet been made.
