Apple is preparing to launch a new Studio Display, which should appear by 2026, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reports in his Power On issue.

Here's What We Know

The new model will have a similar design to the existing Studio Display, keeping the 27-inch screen size, according to Gurman. Apple's code name for the new display is J427.

Although the journalist did not reveal details about the new features or changes in the next Studio Display, display analyst Ross Young suggested that Apple is developing a new mini-LED display that could be released in late 2025 or early 2026. The mini-LED technology will provide increased brightness and better contrast compared to the current model, which uses traditional LED backlighting.

Studio Display was first introduced in March 2022 alongside Mac Studio. It has a 5K resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, brightness up to 600 nits, built-in camera and speakers, one Thunderbolt 3 port and three USB-C ports. Prices for the model in the US start at $1599.

The new display is expected to be released alongside new M5 chip computers.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman also shared new details about the future of Apple's professional monitor and the large iMac. Apple released the 32-inch Pro Display XDR in 2019 with 6K resolution, brightness up to 1600 nits, and Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C ports. Its price starts from $4,999, and the stand costs another $999.
