According to the well-known insider NateTheHate, remakes of Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy Tactics are still in active development. Answering a question on Twitter, he said: "Both projects remain in active development. FFIXR is not expected to be released in 2025. We may see it in 2026."

Here's What We Know

The Final Fantasy IX remake first appeared in a leaked GeForce Now database in 2021, which also mentioned other Square Enix projects such as the PC version of Final Fantasy VII Remake, Chrono Cross remaster, and Kingdom Hearts 4. The original game was released in 2000 for the PlayStation and has since been re-released on various platforms, including mobile, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Final Fantasy Tactics, released in 1997 for the PlayStation, was also mentioned in the GeForce Now leak. The game was recognised for its tactical combat system and interesting storyline. Although there are no official announcements regarding the remake of this game, information indicates that the project is in active development.

It is worth noting that Square Enix has not yet made official statements regarding these remakes. Therefore, fans of the series have to wait for further news and official confirmations from the developers and take all rumours with a grain of salt.
