After its premiere at the 75th Berlin Film Festival, Mickey 17, directed by Pong Joon-ho and starring Robert Pattinson, received positive reviews and an 85% critical acclaim on Rotten Tomatoes.

Here's What We Know

The first reactions state that Mickey 17 is "an extraordinary, funny, violent, touching film that evolves into something more powerful and relevant in the classic style of director Pong Joon-ho". Overall, the film is recommended for fans of great and unconventional science fiction.

A critic from First Showing writes: "Pong Joon-ho is back with another frantic, fun and quirky sci-fi adventure, this time with a real big budget!".

And HollywoodHandle notes: "Mickey 17 is a stunning exploration of human progress that even delves into the importance of meaningful communication with alien life forms. Pong Joon-ho poses a poignant question about the nature of death, creating a cinematic experience that makes you think."

The film is set in the near future, where clones help humans to explore other planets. Mickey Barnes (Pattinson) becomes a "consumable" who voluntarily experiences the dangers of colonising the icy world of the planet Niflheim. Every time Mickey dies, his memories are transferred to a new body.

The premiere will take place on 7 March 2025.
