The huge success of Marvel Rivals made Overwatch 2 developers feel the pressure to work harder on the game
Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller has admitted that the team is under pressure due to the emergence of a new competitor - Marvel Rivals, which has been on the market for two months and has gained immense popularity.
Here's What We Know
In an interview with GamesRadar, Keller confirmed that the Overwatch 2 team is under some pressure, but noted that they have been working on improving the game for a long time. "There is pressure on the Overwatch team, and a lot of it is internal. We ask ourselves: 'How can we make the best game possible?'" he explained.
Keller also noted that many of the innovations for seasons 15 and 16, such as new benefits and the arena, have been in development for a long time. And the reason for the big changes is that when the team looks at the game, they feel that it is missing something or has not evolved as it should.
He emphasised the importance of competition in the genre: "It forces us to take risks and not be satisfied with what we have achieved." Keller believes that seasons 15 and 16 will show that the team is not afraid to experiment.
