GTA Online support may continue even after GTA VI release, - Take-Two

As the release date of GTA 6 approaches, many players have begun to ask a natural question: what will become of GTA Online? However, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has assured that support for the original GTA Online will continue to be available to some extent.
Here's What We Know
Although Zelnick did not provide specific details, he emphasised that the publisher remains committed to supporting old games as long as there is player interest. He mentioned NBA 2K Online, a China-exclusive online game launched in 2012, and its successor, NBA 2K Online 2, released in 2017. Despite the newer release, the servers for both games remain active.
Speaking to IGN, Zelnick explained that Take-Two has historically supported legacy games when the community remained active. However, the company has also shut down older servers to encourage players to upgrade to newer versions. For example, the recent closure of the WWE 2K23 servers was intended to push players towards WWE 2K24 or the upcoming WWE 2K25.
The future of GTA Online remains uncertain, as both Take-Two and Rockstar Games have invested significant resources in expanding its content.
Where To Play
GTA VI is scheduled for release in autumn 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
