MSI MPG 272URX QD-OLED has officially started shipping worldwide. While its starting price in the UK is the same as the previous MPG 271QRX model, it is unexpectedly higher in Europe and the US.

Here's What We Know

The MSI MPG 272URX QD-OLED is now available worldwide. This new model, introduced together with the MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50 ahead of CES 2025, offers significant improvements over the previous monitor.

The main advantage of the MPG 272URX is the upgrade from 1440p to 4K resolution, which increases pixel density by 50% to 166 PPI compared to 110 PPI for the MPG 271QRX. In addition, the new monitor can charge connected devices with up to 98W, up from 90W in the previous model.

The monitor also features DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, which allows for unencoded 4K video at 240Hz. This is ideal for Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards.

The pricing of the MPG 272URX has been a topic of discussion, as it costs £998.99 in the UK, which is similar to the price of the previous model. However, in Europe and the US, the new monitor is much more expensive. It is priced at €1,199 and $1,099.99, compared to the MPG 271QRX's prices of €999.99 and $799.99. This puts the MPG 272URX on par with competitors such as the Asus ROG Swift PG27UCDM in the US.

A month ago, an insider reported that MSI is preparing a new portable gaming console with an AMD Ryzen Z2 processor. A reputable insider told CodeCommando that the Taiwanese manufacturer is developing a new Windows-based portable console.
