Renault Group and Geely Holding Group have signed a strategic partnership agreement in Brazil. The cooperation involves the joint production and sale of zero- and low-emission vehicles at Renault do Brasil.

Here's What We Know

Geely will become a minority shareholder in Renault do Brasil, gaining access to local production, sales and service facilities. Renault's plants in the Ayrton Senna complex (São José dos Pinhais, Paraná) will be used to produce new models of both companies.

Renault will become the official distributor of Geely's electrified vehicles in Brazil, helping the Chinese manufacturer to gain a foothold in the key Latin American market.

Brazil is the largest automotive market in Latin America, accounting for 44% of regional sales. For Renault, this is a chance to strengthen its position, and for Geely, it is an opportunity to enter a promising market with minimal infrastructure costs.

By the way, this is not the first experience of cooperation between French Renault and Chinese Geely in the global market. Earlier, the companies set up a joint venture in South Korea and began to jointly develop new internal combustion engines.
