Tesla is planning to build the first full-fledged "public" charging station for Tesla Semi electric trucks in California. A general idea of this station is provided by a construction application posted to X by user @MarcoRPi1.

Here's What We Know

Tesla has already built one Megacharger station, but it's located near the Gigafactory Nevada plant and is for the automaker's internal fleet of Tesla Semi trucks. Now Tesla plans to roll out its first permanent public Megacharger station. The site plan shows 12 car parks with charging systems that will accommodate trucks along with trailers. Nearby will be buildings with a seating area, vending machines, toilets and staff parking.

The planned Megacharger will be located at 19300 S Hamilton Ave, near Carson City in the Greater Los Angeles area. Nearby are the important 405 and 110 Freeway corridors, as well as the Port of Long Beach.

The Megacharger is expected to be able to charge at more than 1 MW. Tesla claims that the Tesla Semi can regain 70 per cent of its 500-mile range in 30 minutes of charging.

As for the Tesla Semi trucks themselves, production is set to begin by the end of 2025 and become mass-produced in 2026. To do so, Tesla is building a new production line next to its Gigafactory Nevada plant.
