Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is preparing to launch its new electric crossover YU7, which will appear on the market around the middle of the year.

Here's What We Know

The company plans to release at least two versions with two electric motors and all-wheel drive (AWD). Earlier, one of these versions was certified by Chinese authorities, and it has a 220 kW (295 hp) front electric motor and a 288 kW (386 hp) rear electric motor.

Recently, it became known that a new version of the YU7 with less power has appeared. In the new version, the front electric motor develops 130 kW (174 hp), and the rear - 235 kW (315 hp). Both electric motors are supplied by Inovance Automotive and United Automotive Electronic Systems. The LFP battery is manufactured by BYD's FinDreams business unit. The new model weighs 2,425 kg and has a top speed of 240 km/h.

In addition to the two AWD variants, Xiaomi will also introduce one rear-wheel drive (RWD) version with a 235 kW (315 hp) motor, which is likely to be an exact copy of the rear-wheel drive motor in the new AWD model.

The YU7 will be Xiaomi's second electric vehicle after the successful launch of the SU7, of which the company has already sold more than 150,000 units. Xiaomi has an ambitious goal of delivering 300,000 electric vehicles this year, and the new YU7 will certainly help achieve this goal with its popular SUV shape.

Recently, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra recorded a record-breaking SU7 Ultra electric vehicle run in Shanghai.
