Netflix fires part of the Night School Studio team that gave us the charming indie game Oxenfree

Night School Studio, which is known for the Oxenfree game, has laid off an undetermined number of employees in connection with the reorganisation of the Netflix Games division.
Here's What We Know
According to Game Developer, some of the studio's employees were fired, which came as a surprise to the team. Netflix refused to comment on the situation.
Although the layoffs are part of Netflix's attempt to reorganise its video game business, it is reported that this will not affect Night School Studio's current projects.
In October 2024, Netflix hired Alan Taskan, a former Epic Games development employee, to lead its video game division. Tuscan expressed confidence that the company has a unique opportunity to "rewrite the future of gaming". However, the latest layoffs indicate that Netflix has not yet decided on the direction of development.
Night School Studio is known for its games such as Oxenfree and Afterparty. The studio's latest game, Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals, was released in 2023. Despite its success as an indie game, layoffs were still unavoidable.
At the moment, it remains unknown what Night School Studio is working on next.
