Rockstar Games has announced that on 4 March 2025, PC players will receive a free Grand Theft Auto V update that will bring the game's version to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series level.

Here's What We Know

In the new patch, players will be able to enjoy all the latest features, including new cars and performance improvements at Hao's Special Works, animal encounters, and the ability to purchase a GTA+ subscription. The update also promises improved graphics, faster loading times and other new features.

Players will be able to transfer their progress in the story mode and online to the new version of the game. It will also introduce kernel-based cheat protection and proactive voice chat moderation to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.

Those who wish to stay on the previous version of GTA V should not worry - Rockstar will continue to support the old version for those whose hardware does not meet the minimum requirements. Newcomers will also have the opportunity to choose between the versions. Support for the FiveM modding platform will also remain on the old version while Rockstar is working on updating it.

As a reminder, Take-Two CEO Straus Zelnick recently confirmed support for "legacy projects" as long as the community remains active. This indicates that GTA Online and GTA 5 will remain relevant for a long time.
