It has emerged that all iPhone 17 models due in autumn 2025 will feature Apple's own Wi-Fi chip, developed in-house. This will replace the Broadcom chips that Apple currently uses.

Here's What We Know

This was reported by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who specialises in Apple's supply chain in Asia. According to him, the iPhone 17 Air will be equipped not only with Apple's Wi-Fi chip, but also with Apple's C1 modem, which first appeared in the iPhone 16e unveiled the other day. The rest of the models, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, will use Qualcomm modems with Apple's Wi-Fi chip.

This decision will allow Apple to reduce the cost of buying components from third-party vendors such as Broadcom and Qualcomm. In addition, using its own chips will "improve connectivity between Apple devices".

It is rumoured that the new iPhone series will also feature Samsung's top-tier OLED screens and will get improved charging performance. It has also been reported that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a reduced Dynamic Island.
