Mercedes, together with n+, has presented a new electric bike, the Mercedes-AMG F1 City Edition. The bike is available in three sizes and costs $4000.

Here's What We Know

A smart helmet can be purchased separately for $400. It syncs with the e-bike, receives telemetry data, and has built-in useful functions.

The smart helmet has a lighting system that responds to the lighting around it, a brake light, and thumb-activated turn signals. It can also automatically send an SMS to a trusted contact in the event of an accident.

The e-bike is equipped with a 750 W motor that allows it to reach speeds of up to 45 km/h. Users can choose from four riding modes: Comfort (energy saving), Sport (balance of power and efficiency), Sport Plus (extra power) and Race (maximum performance). The handlebars feature a 5.5-inch colour touchscreen display that shows speed, battery power and helmet settings.

The bike has a 9-speed Shimano shifting system for a smooth ride. The brakes are Tektro hydraulic disc brakes with perforated 203mm discs and dual pistons for reliable braking. The main DownTube battery has a capacity of 10 Ah and the optional SeatTube has a capacity of 5 Ah. The frame is made of lightweight aluminium alloy, but without wings or a luggage rack.

Mercedes-Benz Vans has recently abandoned its electric-only strategy and announced a new platform with an internal combustion engine.
