In 2024, the Ukrainian defence industry produced 154 units of artillery systems.

Here's What We Know

This was announced during a press conference by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who noted that this is a record number, which, according to him, exceeds the production of all NATO countries combined over the past year. The President also stressed that this figure is expected to be exceeded in 2025.

Although Zelenskyy did not specify which artillery systems he was referring to, it is likely that he is talking about the production of 155mm self-propelled artillery systems 2S22 Bohdan. According to official statements, in May 2024, the production rate of these howitzers was 10 units per month, and in October, production increased to 20 units per month.

Thus, the total figure of 154 self-propelled artillery systems looks quite realistic. The production is financed both from the state budget of Ukraine and under the so-called "Danish model". Additional confirmation of mass production is the constant supply of 2S22 Bohdan to the units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
