Atomfall is an innovative survival action game from Rebellion Developments, the creators of Sniper Elite. Set in a post-nuclear world, the game offers players significant freedom of choice, as it lacks traditional quests and focuses on exploration and research. The game experience is shaped by how players interact with the world, making each playthrough unique.

Here's What We Know

Lead designer Ben Fisher said that they used creative risk-taking throughout the process. On the VideoGamer podcast, Fisher shared that they took the creative guidelines they were aiming for and followed them completely. He mentioned that they tried some experimental elements that would not be found in other games because their outcome could not be guaranteed.

Fischer also explained that some of the decisions made in Atomfall are quite unconventional. There are in-game events that players can either trigger or miss, which can dramatically affect the number of enemies in the game world. He admitted that these features may not work perfectly, but expressed his excitement when he sees the results.

The idea of influencing enemy populations is intriguing, especially considering that games like Fallout 4 already allow players to wipe out factions. It'll be interesting to see how far Rebellion takes this concept, especially after all the iterations it went through during development.

Where To Play

The game will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

When We Can Expect It

Atomfall is scheduled for release on the 27th of March.
