In January of this year, Ukraine officially became the first operator of the German RCH 155 self-propelled artillery systems. The first wheeled self-propelled artillery system was officially handed over to Ukraine at the manufacturer, KNDS.
Here's What We Know
The contract for the supply of RCH 155 to the Ukrainian Defence Forces was signed at the end of 2022. The Ukrainian army is to receive a total of 54 such vehicles. Despite the fact that this was the first contract for this system, the delivery took place on time.
The official KNDS YouTube account recently posted a video showing the handover ceremony of the first RCH 155 with the participation of Ukraine's Ambassador Oleksiy Makeev and German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius. The video also shows test firing, sea trials and the production process of the turrets of these artillery systems.
Earlier it became known that KNDS Deutschland plans to buy a carriage plant that will be converted to produce RCH 155 components and Leopard 2 main battle tanks.
In addition, in January 2025, KNDS Deutschland opened a joint venture in Ukraine.
