Bloomberg: Apple plans to integrate its own modems into all iPhones, but it will take a few years to get there

Apple has big plans for its own modem, which will debut in the iPhone 16e and replace the Qualcomm chip. However, the US giant is serious about abandoning third-party modems, although it will take a long time.
Here's What We Know
In a new issue of Power On's weekly news digest, authoritative insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman revealed that Apple could integrate a proprietary modem into the main chipset by 2028 to get rid of separations like the Apple A18 and Apple C1. This way, the company will move away from segregating Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular models, and all gadgets will have mobile internet by default.
That said, the Apple C1 may remain exclusive to the iPhone 16e, while the iPhone 17 is likely to get a Qualcomm chip again.
Gurman believes that a proprietary modem will debut in Apple's flagship devices next year, with the company aiming to surpass Qualcomm in modem production in 2027.
