Apple has announced the largest investment in the company's history - over $500bn over the next four years. These investments will help advance US manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI) and silicon engineering, and expand opportunities for students and workers in the US.
What do the investments include?
- The launch of Apple's new plant in Texas - the company's second manufacturing facility in the US
- Opening a plant in Houston - with partners to produce servers that will support Apple Intelligence (Private Cloud Compute)
- Expanding manufacturing and RD centres in Michigan, California, Arizona, Nevada, Nevada, Iowa, Oregon, North Carolina and Washington
- Funding for thousands of vendors across the country
- Infrastructure development for Apple Intelligence
- Investing in content for Apple TV+ in 20 U.S. states
Apple's economic impact in the US
Apple remains one of the largest taxpayers in the US, having paid $75bn in taxes over the past 5 years. In 2024, the company will pay $19bn.
The draft investment was the result of Tim Cook's talks with President Donald Trump, during which they discussed support for the US economy and technology sector.
