The Blood of Dawnwalker will use time-limiting mechanics: it should push the RPG genre forward, - game's creative director

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, Creative Director of Rebel Wolves, said that the studio, with its debut project, The Blood of Dawnwalker, aims to innovate the role-playing game genre with the time-limiting mechanics that will be at the heart of the game. In an interview with GamesRadar, he explained that the use of time as a resource is an integral part of the game's non-linear structure, adding an additional layer of depth to the player's choices.
Here's What We Know
Tomaszkiewicz emphasised that the studio focused on a narrative sandbox where players have to make difficult decisions about how to allocate their time, all while the game timer constantly ticks away. This mechanic is designed to create natural tension and give weight to each choice. However, he assured players that the timing system would not force them to skip content.
He acknowledged that the game may divide players, as some may enjoy the time-limited stress, while others may prefer to explore the world at a more leisurely pace. Speaking about the development of The Witcher 3, Tomaszkiewicz pointed out the risks associated with introducing new ideas while maintaining the high quality of writing and quest design. He noted that not all players will like the changes, but the goal is to satisfy the core of fans and move the genre forward.
Where To Play
Upon release, The Blood of Dawnwalker will be available on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC.
When We Can Expect It
At the moment, even the approximate release time is unknown.
