Updated: "The studio continues to operate and the changes will not affect the planned support." Krafton comments on Striking Distance layoffs

Striking Distance Studios, the studio behind the horror game The Callisto Protocol, has carried out a large wave of staff reductions, which, according to one of the dismissed employees, affected "most of the developers" at the studio.

Here's What We Know

The redundancies took place late last week and affected employees at various levels and departments, including both newcomers and veterans with over five years of experience at the studio. Although the exact number of laid-off employees has not been established due to different data on the studio's previous staff, estimates range from 30 to over a hundred laid-off developers.

Also, according to rumours, the studio's new project was supposed to be a 3-player multiplayer game created on Unreal Engine 5. However, due to the lack of vacancies on the studio's website and recent layoffs, the future of this project looks doubtful and it may be cancelled even before the official announcement.

The studio and its parent company Krafton have not yet commented on these layoffs officially.
